I've decided not to take the trip at this time [see 21 February] -- playing it better safe than sorry. I'm worried about traveling when we seem so close to war and possible terrorist retaliations. Reno may be a small town, but at least it's home for now and feels somewhat safe instead of my being in the air and on the road.
If all goes well, I'll still visit D.C. (and Harry Reid and the FCC)... maybe in May. I'll keep you posted.
In the meantime, if you do have any network contacts, please let me know .
And please, please, please keep yourself safe during this dangerous time.
I've got a lot of exciting news happening in my life -- including a business trip to Manhattan and D.C. in mid-March.
March 14-16, I'll be attending a college and community radio conference in NY, NY. While there, I'd also like to conduct some informational interviews at the networks, especially in their radio news broadcast divisions. This is where you come in! Do you know anyone-who-knows-anyone (etc.) at any of the networks (ABC, CBS, NBC) who'd love to share their knowledge and contact possibilities with an up-and-comer?
The following week I'll be in Washington DC to meet with Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) and representatives of the Federal Communications Commission, concerning High Sierra Community Radio's FM license application, which has been pending for almost eight (!) years.
I'll appreciate any leads and suggestions you can help me with. Thanks.
